The World List of Intangibles of Tourist Attraction

The Oktoberfest folklore festival was included to the World List of (intangible) objects of special tourist attraction in 2018.

The annual festival in Munich (Germany) is one of the biggest folk festivals in the world.

Every year Oktoberfest is visited by more than 6 million tourists who drink around 6 million liters of beer and eat 500,000 roasted chicken. The event takes place in the Theresa’s meadow, with an area of 26 hectares.

For the first time Oktoberfest took place on October 12, 1810 in honor of the wedding of the Crown Prince Ludwig.

The main drink of the holiday is a specially brewed Oktoberfest beer, which can be purchased only at this time of year.

The glory of Oktoberfest has crossed national borders and gained a global scale. Every third resident of Germany visited the festival at least once, and the record was set in 1985 - 7.5 million guests. Not a single festival in the world attracted more participants. So, it's worth to come here at least once to see that this fame is well deserved.
