The town of Suzdal is one of the most beautiful Russian towns. According to the abundance of monuments of ancient Russian art and the preservation of its old external appearance, Suzdal is without equals and is rightfully considered as a city-museum.

The town is located on the Kamenka River, 26 km. north of the city of Vladimir (Russian Federation), where in 200 monuments of architecture represent 8 centuries of the history of Russian.

Suzdal grew up on the site of one of the most ancient settlements of North-Eastern Russia, where natives of the Novgorod lands lived, looking for fertile lands and "happy hunting ground". For the first time the town is mentioned in 1024 in the story of the chronicler Nestor.

Typical for Suzdal landscape - white stone Kremlin walls along the banks of the river and domes of churches sparkling in the sun in the frame of protected meadows. There are no high-rise buildings and industrial buildings, and the air is clean and fresh. This is one of the ancient Russian settlements, which has preserved its unique appearance to this day.

The compositional center of the Suzdal Kremlin is the cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin of the XII century. The ensemble of the Kremlin also includes the Bishops' Chambers of the XV-XVII centuries which is the most ancient monument of civil architecture of Suzdal, the belltower (1635) famous for clock-chimes. In 1667 a wooden church of St. Nicholas (1776) was brought from the village of Glotovo to the nearby Yuriev-Polsky district.

Remained within the boundaries of the XVIII century, Suzdal was able to preserve the ancient topography, the ineffable color of the ancient Russian city, the amazing harmony of Old Russian architecture and the environment.
